i forgot to mention that people with this disorder are sometimes surprisingly comfortable and social when they feel people are at a safe distance.. or not directly in the presence of people.. which is why i’m so chatty online i think www.socialphobia.org/ www.calss.utoronto.ca/pamphlets/social_anxiety.htm socialanxiety.factsforhealth.org/ again this can be a childs disorder as well.. if you suspect your child may suffer from this check out this website www.klis.com/chandler/pamphlet/socphob/socphobpamphlet.htm

Thanks for your video so intelligently explaining this disorder. I have suffered agoraphobia/anxiety disorder for 20yrs tho much better now. Once I discovered the cause for me was extreme low self esteem I was more able to challenge my thoughts which has lessened my symptoms.

what is it i could probably tell you what catagory it fits into since there are three social anxieties.

Unfortunately the modern society is not prepared to treat this kind of mental status due to thier poor knowledge about the illiness itself.
To be continued…..

I really feel sorry for you and hope that you get better soon. I think that something that might help is saying affirmations in the morning like ‘I love myself’, ‘I am proud of myself’ etc

I am on clonazepam, what is the proper med? I would like to know the drug of choice as you said in your post? I’m also on anti- depress, and I am so much worse. Please, post again. I have been in the public for so long, buisness, school and social. Then one day it changed. I can’t leave my home. I used to be a marathon runner, but now I a can’t run to the store for milk. I have never posted, but if anyone can respond, please do.

Hmm… I’m 13, that children’s page is particularly useful for me. I’ve stopped going to school (when I’m at school, I don’t really do anything other than cry and exclude myself, and the bad feelings can last for some time after), and I’ve started taking Prozac or something like it.
I’ve heard from some sources that women, like with depression, actually have social anxiety more often, but men seek help more often.
Best of luck to you.

could you tell me which web-site is having those questions, you are mentioning in the vid, hun?

I got that it’s a bummer but you have not to let it beat you, I found drugs were a kickstart but the side effects were having an adverse effect on my immune system so had to stop.

Personally, I don’t believe in taking any form of medication, since it doesn’t solve the problem in the long run. In other words, it doesn’t get to the root of the problem. Not to mention side-effects and all that..

you clearly know nothing about bi polar or any mental illness if you truely believe medication doesnt”solve the problem”. if you knew what id felt like or what it was like to live with this you would know that even the side effects if any are worth it.

This isent y2clay14 but his best friend.. My mother has this and I truly never understood that personaly, she has said very few things about it but I do see these things in me. I have NEVER told this to any one but seeing that you speak speak freely about it I feel that there’s closure and hope. It’s odd but I just feel better and I want to say thank you.
