Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.

“Just get over it” means “I just don’t get it and can’t be bothered to get it”

I’m 53 and suffer from this as well. You have to accept the anxiety and not fight it. If you fight it, it escalates. You are a charming young woman. Be yourself.

OMG! I know exactly how you feel! I hate going to work aswell and I just hate it cause I don’t talk to much people and they probably think I’m weird and/or stuck up but it really has to do with my own problem of social anxiety. I recently graduated from university and I need to go out and get a job, but that fuckin scares me and it’s cause of the social aspect of having a job-the small talk with co-workers, greeting clients etc…agghhh..

one of the best things to do is learning deep relaxation before forth coming events and the best relaxation technique is Yoga Nidra, it helps with all sorts of nervousness, fear and stress related problems by way of balancing both brain hemispheres. Its always available on ebay, look for the title
“Yoga Nidra total relaxation no more tension”

With my job, I’ve had to learn how to not outwardly show my symptoms of anxiety, at the same time I feel like a whiner because I can control my anxiety to some point. I also get really overwhelmed really easily which makes it easier for me to mess up when I’m dealing with a customer which just makes the entire situation worse. I’m lucky that my boss has kind of figured out my anxiety issues but he is very nice about it. he tries to help me any way he can but he doesn’t “make fun of me”.

you seem a very kind person. we all get anxiety once and awhile, sometimes its hard for me to. i have used pot and alcohol at times to releive this and its. I understand why some people can come off like “bitch” because of anxiety or problems in their life that others do not understand. hang in their honey, your beautifull, try your best hunny. hopefully this new one works out, keep fighting it, if in very limited moderation pot may do the trick, i enjoy some once and a while.

Don’t drink Alcohol to get away from your problems, that’s not cool. And Sleep Hallucinations is actually a type of anxiety. You have to be strong at night and realize that you have a problem and try to sleep with the Hallucinations. I know me personally sometimes I wake so lost in the mornings from night Hallucinations. Another thing when your at home try to be as calm as possible con watch to much tv or be on the pc to much that actually can cause anxiety,

oh yes…i can relate to all this..since over 20 years I have the same problems regarding social anxiety in jobs…I’m not going to tell you, how many times i changed the work..and every time i found a new one, it’s the same drama over and over again…The beginning is so hard…especially the morning before the first work day…I feel miserable…

  22. #22 by Rock0and0Roll0nigga on August 21st, 2009

Actually I have to start a new work the next monday…already now I feel like shit..like paralized, my stomach crawls, don’t wanna talk, I look at the clock every 5 minutes hoping that monday will not come soon…and I will have to face it again alone…as it was in the past 20 years…this is my karma..

  23. #23 by ktbaby077 on September 5th, 2009

this is great. i completely can relate to the crippling effects the work world can have on cetain ppl. I have told my parents but they have no idea what changes take place once i start clock in evrday. I can’t control it; its like i should be painting or doing what i was meant for; molding into corp. world just kills my soul; I feel unprofessional and incompetent half the time; feel so awkward when having to make eye contact, and just want to die having a line of eyes on me. i wont live verylng

first thing you have to learn to say is “fuck it”
get mad, people respect it. tell them what dicks they are. tell them when you don’t approve. keep being yourself and standing up for what is right. fuck them, they are already dead. find shit that makes you happy and if that is giving a shit so be it. a world full of them and we would have to call them zombies
