Most people don’t really understand this disease and what it can do to you. I was diagnosed with the illness a few years ago, after having dropped out of college and living as a recluse in my childhood bedroom for 5 months. I actually stored food in my closet and only left to go the bathroom. The only person i talked to in this time was my dad every 2 weeks.
It’s not simple shyness. Its genetic. my older brother and 3 of my cousins killed themselves…i believe because they probably had it.

I’m similar to you, I live in a cottage (in uni) with housemates for 3 months already and I don’t know them, I would buy takeout or eat food from my room and only leave it for bathroom breaks. I’ve only been aware about this condition just recently so I’ve never been diagnosed. I think I should see a psychiatrist

I have this, it fucking sucks. And honestly, people DO NOT understand. And it gets so frustrating because you are all alone.

If I could find somebody living close to my zip code it would make feel 80% better..I wonder if there is a town or apartment complex for people like me to live together and understand each other.

Trust me you’re not alone! 5% of the population have social anxiety. Some have serious symptoms and others are milder.
I’m not sure if I have it but i find it hard to explane something or talk more than a sentence with people. I stutter and struggle with finding words and while i do that in my head, i feel like a freak and amazed that i have friends. and also how srupid they think i am when i speak.
I’m the listener, and that’s not by choice.

Your far from being alone my friend. Every time I find out that I might have girlfriend I freak out. And I just feel stupid because of it.
