My Social Anxiety disorder

This summer was a particularily hard summer for my Social anxiety disorder and I thought I would share my struggles with you. And yes I do know that there is a small amount of irony of someone with a social anxiety disorder having a video blog

anxiety, Depression, disorder, God, Jesus, social

@charreva Theatre has helped me get out of my shell, that and close knit friends, we may not have many but the few friends we have are very important. We should start a facebook group of social anxiety friends or something

Dude, check out Tyler Durden’s series on building core confidence. It did much more for me than any anxiety meds (valium!!) ever did watch?v=boXH-YhJp_s

Omg, I can’t believe someone suggested Owen “Tyler Durden” Cook in the threads- well, I can talk to you about all that stuff Max, talk about being sucked into something, well I was for a couple of years.

i have the same disorder. it feels like people are staring at me all the time, so i never go outside in the day time. i am not able to work because i dont want anyone getting anywhere near me. i never sleep at night because sleeping at night gives me nightmares. right now i am waiting on my application for disability. i hate going outside. i have a psychiatrist appt in 13 days for my final disability evaluation.

@SimpleSunim Good luck, just know that you are not alone, thousands if not millions around the world suffer from anxiety disorders, I have found that the tripod approach helps. Prayer, therapy, and medication in that order.

I also realized that most people are thinking more about themselves then me and that has helped me

God be with you, and know that you are not alone

LOOK PEOPLE IN THEIR EYES no one gave you SAD, not even you did. its just are bodies reaction to things we dont wanna say or do…when u care too much of what people say YOU ARE GIVING THEM POWER THEY DONT DESERVE. just bounce back, and i promise the biggest thing that will help and helped me. look people in their eyes, i know its uncomfortable but you will notice they are doing the same thing to you..eye contact..simple and effective, you will notice yourself connecting, a wonderful feeling..

how can you be a deacon? im a deacon and i have a pretty hard time putting myself in most of those situations without a social anxiety disorder

  14. #14 by AVoiceCrying33 on September 7th, 2010

@charbala It is difficult but in my weakness He is my strength and the more I fight the illness, the more I die to to myself and do God’s work, the stronger I feel, although it isn’t easy

I have a fear of 1-1 interview situations. It got so bad last time that my head started shaking and I couldn’t keep eye contact, I had to walk out it got so bad and pretended I was feeling ill. Now I’m scared to get myself in the same situation incase it happens again but I really need a full time job. I’m kind of stuck and it’s making me miserable.

@garystorey Therapy helps alot, I like to say that i am on the tripod, Prayer, therapy and Medication.

I know that feeling but the worst thing you can do is to give in to it

same feelings here man, but it’s not fear of people for me; it’s fear of judgment

  23. #23 by AVoiceCrying33 on November 17th, 2010

@Dblecheezburger Well the two go hand in hand. It’s relational fear of offending, fear of knowing what to say ect. But dealing with the fear and managing social relations are much more rewarding than living a life of solitude

  24. #24 by Dblecheezburger on November 17th, 2010

@AVoiceCrying33 true, i guess it’s better to keep the end in mind (the reward of overcoming situations)

Hi , in your videos, I felt like you were unhappy. Truth is I felt that way ( like of extreme social phobia) for so long. I recently started seeing these videos and feel that there are more people like me. To make things worse I also am a gay. I hurts me so much….I trust in god……. don’t know
