I have had social anxiety for 8 years now. I’m 24 now. Made some improvements and find medication helps a great deal. Need to do more exposure therapy though.
I think it’s great some feel able to post a video comment, but I wouldn’t dare! :-)

alcohol is the cure? hehe.. I dunno about that one, buddy..

I come off as somewhat of an asshole because I try ignore anyone and stay in my “protective sphere” when I’m in public, when the truth is that I’m terrified of what others would think of me. I just hope no one takes notice of me.

Honestly, alchohol IS the cure =P

You wouldn’t believe the shit that comes out of my mouth while intoxicated.

I have social anxiety, although it is better now that I’m on Lexapro. I have been diagnosed with anxiety (OCD) by a psychiatrist. I get socially anxious when I walk past people in the street and I have no close friends. I’ll make a video response once I buy a webcam!

I also feel terrible when I face it. I’m not diagnosed with social phobia, but I can really relate to a lot of what is said about it here on YouTube.

Hi there. You know whats much worse than having a social anxiety? Having SA and living in another country that you can’t speak their language fluently. Thinking what people might think of you, coping with their culture, having the courage to talk to them , but ending up talking english jargon with them.. etc I’m pretty messed up right now. I’m trying my hardest, and yet failing miserably, looking for ways to improve myself, and not taking the cowardly way out, hence smoking, drugs, and alchohol

I’d had SA for as long as i can remember, but it was really bad in middle school and high school. I spent most of those days in bathroom stalls or libraries; always hiding and hoping not to be seen. I ahte talking on phones or seeing buses pass me by; all that good stuff. I’m 16, a junior in high school and still suffering from this thing caled SA :( ((

I was a new transfer to this big school with over 2000 students and imagine walking in and everyone is staring at you talking about you because you are the new guy.

    It was a fight everyday.

Just be optimistic and believe in yourself. That’s more important than all the medication in the world. Look at the bright side of things.
